HISTORY:

Uprise Zine began in 2003 simple as an idea to create a magazine that supported underground heavy music. The dream came to life in 2004 with RCKTWN Magazine, the prelude to Uprise Zine, a completely hand-made copy machine zine. The first issue was one sheet of paper folded over with only an interview and a few cd reviews and only 25 copies were printed. Over the course of 11 months, 14 issues of RCKTWN Magazine were printed with a circulation peeking at 300. Many large name bands graced the covers like Norma Jean, The Comeback Kid, Stretch Arm Strong, Mewithoutyou, and more. It was not long until Uprise Zine began to take shape.

In 2005 Uprise Zine printed it's first issue with a circulation of 5000 copies. A small road trip team was quickly formed and the magazine was promoted at Cornerstone Festival, Sonshine Fest, and various other cities. In 2006 the first color covered issue was printed with Haste The Day as the main feature. Since then Uprise Zine has been gaining awareness quickly. Through sponsored tours, mailorder distributors, and various other outlets Uprise Zine is now distributed on a national scale. To say the least, we truly appreciate our loyal readers and business clients and we will continue to bring the best and most positive magazine for the underground culture.
